Fine Gael Senator Maura Hopkins has called for works to take place on the N61 outside Tulsk on the Roscommon Road in order to improve road safety.
Senator Hopkins stated, “Over the past month alone, I understand there have been approximately six accidents along this section of road near Tulsk. I have raised this matter with both Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Roscommon County Council.”
“This section of road has a series of very dangerous bends outside the village of Tulsk and it is clear that they are posing serious road safety concerns. There is a high volume of traffic using this road on a daily basis and it is important this section of road be prioritised in order to improve safety.”
Senator Hopkins concluded, “I have emphasised the need for works on this section of road and I will continue to work with TII, Roscommon County Council and Minister Brendan Griffin on this matter. Every accident that occurs is an accident too many and it is our responsibility to do everything possible to reduce the risks and improve safety on our roads”.
