Fine Gael Senator Maura Hopkins has said that €12,591 is to be provided to local Men’s Sheds organisations across Roscommon and Galway.

Senator Hopkins stated, “Men’s Sheds play a very valuable role in our local communities. They provide a safe, comfortable and inclusive environment where men of all ages can share their skills and connect with their communities through the projects they work on.”

“I continue to work closely with many of our local Men’s Shed organisation and I am very pleased to see this funding being announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring T.D. as I have been working with him for some time in order to secure funding for these local Sheds.”

“In Galway Men’s Sheds to receive funding include; Ballinasloe €1,495; Ballygar €905; Dunmore €1,495.”

“In Roscommon, the following Men’s Sheds are to receive funding; Ballaghaderreen €2,992; Ballyleague €1,671; Boyle €2,362; Castlerea €1,671.”

“These funds will go directly to support the great work that is being done by these organisations in our communities. It is so important that we support initiatives such as these which can provide a vital connection to the community for many members.”

Senator Hopkins concluded, “I want to commend the work that is being done by so many Men’s Shed organisations locally. The movement has the unique ability to combine education with health promotion and it is so important that we continue to support them into the future.”
