Senator Maura Hopkins recently met with Irish Water Officials and the contractors in Ballaghaderreen who are completing work to the water mains on the Sligo Road and Dalton Terrace.

Senator Hopkins stated that “existing lead service connections have been replaced with new plastic connections onto the new plastic main as opposed to existing Cast Iron to supply houses in Abbey View, Sligo Road.  There are a further 9 lead service connections to be replaced on the Sligo road and expected to be complete next week. Single lane traffic management will resume and traffic lights will be in place as part of the works.”

 

Senator Hopkins continued “the new plastic main in Dalton Terrace is now complete.  Next week will complete the transfer of 9 old lead service pipes to the new main on Dalton terrace. Permanent reinstatement will then be completed.”

Senator Hopkins concluded “these works are important in order to reduce leaks and water outages.  It will provide a more reliable supply of water to individuals.”
