Over €213,000 is to be provided under the LEADER Programme to support the redevelopment of Kilmurray Community Hall, Senator Maura Hopkins has said.
Senator Hopkins stated, “This funding approval by Roscommon LEADER Partnership is great news for the entire community. It will allow for extensive renovations of the hall including structural works, new windows, new floors, rewiring, an upgraded fire alarm system as well as other ancillary works.”
“This investment will ensure that Kilmurray Hall has a strong future. I know that use of the hall has declined in recent years because of the poor facilities. These works will ensure that there are top class facilities and will open up the hall to a range of new community uses.”
“Community Centres are at the heart of many of our rural communities and it is important that Kilmurray Hall continues this vital role, particularly after the closure of the local National School in recent weeks.”
Senator Hopkins continued, “I was very pleased to take place in the Kube Fundraiser in recent weeks in support of this refurbishment. Through my involvement with that fundraiser, I have seen first hand the fantastic community effort in the local area. I want to commend the local community for being so proactive on this development as well as Roscommon LEADER Partnership for their continued support for communities across the County.”
Senator Hopkins concluded, “The LEADER Programme is such an important driver of investment into our rural communities. I continue to work closely with Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring T.D. to ensure that we can deliver the maximum amount of investment for communities across Roscommon and Galway through this programme.”
