Local projects across Roscommon and Galway are to benefit from €25 Million in funding to make homes and businesses more energy efficient under the SEAI Community Grants Scheme.

Senator Hopkins stated, “This funding which is being made available by Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Richard Bruton T.D. will have a huge impact on the ground for communities locally.”

“18 homes locally will be retrofitted to improve energy efficiency and reduce annual heating costs. Public buildings which will receive upgrades locally include; Athleague Community Centre; Athleague National School; and Boyle GAA Club; Lough Key Forest Park; Ballinasloe Leisure Centre. Harmac Medical in Castlerea will also receive upgrades under this funding announcement.”

Senator Hopkins concluded, “This funding under the climate action plan will support innovative community groups who are leading these projects. I continue to work closely with Minister Bruton to ensure that we deliver increased funding for retrofitting initiatives for homes and businesses across Roscommon and Galway.”
