€2,265,708 is to be provided for Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) in 2020, Senator Maura Hopkins has confirmed.

Senator Hopkins stated, “My colleague, Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring T.D. has informed me that he is making this allocation to promote social inclusion and community development locally.”

SICAP works to tackle poverty, social exclusion and long-term unemployment through supporting local engagement and partnership between disadvantaged individuals, community organisations, public sector agencies and other stakeholders.”

“Locally, SICAP is administered by Roscommon LEADER Partnership and Galway Rural Development. I have met many people who have been supported by this programme and I know that this funding has a hugely positive impact on individuals and communities right across this region.”

Senator Hopkins concluded, “I would encourage anyone who may be interested in the supports available under SICAP to contact either Roscommon LEADER or GRD.”
