Speaking after the visit to Hyde Park by Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Senator Maura Hopkins stated, “I was very pleased to be able to facilitate the visit by Minister Donohue to the Hyde this week.”

“I continue to work with the redevelopment committee to secure the necessary capital investment for the regeneration of Hyde Park. It is important that we have support for this project at the highest levels of Government, therefore I wanted Minister Donohue to see the redevelopment plans first hand. He has given his full support to the County Board on this project.”

“It is vital that we see the Connacht Final return to the Hyde in the near future. But there are obstacles to achieving this and securing the necessary funding for this project is essential. We know that the GAA at Central level have given their full support for this project.”

“We know that the hosting of big games in the Hyde provides a major economic boost for Roscommon Town the entire region. This is something which we should not be losing to other counties because the Hyde cannot host these games.”

Senator Hopkins concluded, “I will continue to work closely with the redevelopment committee on this project and look forward to the full support of Minister Donohue in securing the necessary capital funding.”
